Chapter Four

Chapter Four
I'm careful not to slip as I run down the sidewalk. Little flurries are coming down, brushing across my shoulders and sticking to my lashes. My breaths turns white as I let it out. It's a winter wonderland, even if there's only a dusting.

I run towards what I know. My new spot. My new cove. My new sanctuary. I tuck my chin against my scarf as I cross the street and turn onto the path. During the summer, this place is crowded with celebrities flocking to get their tan. But in the winter, it's as empty as can be. The sand covered in snow, the tips of the waves icy. I skid to a stop near the edge of the shore and stand there for a minute, just watching the flakes come down. Each one a little different. A little lost.

I sniffle as I look out at the ocean, all frozen, and cold, and unreachable. I sigh as I slump forward.

I take on last look at the horizon, at the light grey sky, illuminated by the smog and building lights, before I turn around and make my way back up the path.

I hope you liked chapter four and feel free to comment! Constructive criticism is always welcome. I'm sorry that chapter is so short, my last chapter was really long, and I used most of my screenshots that I had, so I'm off to play more!

Chapter Three

Chapter Three
I reach over and click the lamp on my bedside table on. Slowly, I sit up, squinting as I adjust to the light.
I  stand up and bury my hands in my hand as a sob leaves my mouth. I had that dream again. And he was there. Holding his hand out for me to grab. But the second I reached up, he pulled away and laughed, letting me fall, fall, fall.

"It's just a dream." I remind myself, drying my eyes with my sleeve. "Maybe his phone broke, or maybe he misread the number, or maybe he-" maybe he blames you and never wants to see you again. "Stop!" I whisper furiously to myself. I look up at the window and smile. Through the frost on the window, I can see snow.

It falls gently and slowly as it gracefully flutters to the ground, coating the city in white. I turn around and walk down the stairs and into the kitchen. I flip the light switch on and wait for the lights to flicker on. I take the milk and the cereal out of the cabinets and pour a bowl of cereal. I do my boring, morning routine. After dropping my bowl off in the sink, I look through the sliding glass doors into the yard. It's stopped snowing, but there's an inch that's already accumulated. I slide the door open slowly so it doesn't make any noise. Before stepping out, I look behind to make sure no one's watching, and step out. I wince as my barefoot hits the snow, gritting my teeth as I step outside. It's so cold. Even colder then I thought. I bring my hands together and breath into them, trying to warm up.

The city looks so peaceful. I guess Bridgeport does sleep, sometimes. There's only one or two yellow taxis winding their way between the buildings. It must be a snow day. As if on cue, I hear a high pitched squeal and the sound of feet pounding against the carpeted staircase as Eliza yells; 'snow day! Snow day! Snow day!' I step inside before she comes around the corner.
"It's a snow day!" she cries, smiling from ear to ear as she bounces past me. I shake my head as I walk down the hall and into the living room. Someone's turned on the fireplace, most likely Sammi, while I was outside. I stand in front of it, putting my palms out to warm up. The fire casts an orange glow, making the room feel a lot more cozy than it actually is.

I can hear Eliza telling Sammi that it's a snow day, but the rest of her excited babble goes right over my head. She bounds back in the living room, acting like a ten-year-old for once in her life.
"Want to watch reruns of mom's old tv shows?" She asks me, making herself comfortable on the couch.
"Sure," I say thickly, sitting down next her.

"Mom looks so young there." Eliza says, as she points at the screen half an hour later.
     "She does."
     "How old was she?"
     "I don't know."
She's silent for another mintue before she asks another question, "what's that noise?"
"Shhh," I say gently. There's the sound of the front gates openning and closing and a key being put in the door.
"Do you think it's mom and dad?" Eliza asks excitedly, jumping up and down in her seat. "Do you think-"
"Eliza, please be quiet." I say as I watch the door open.
"Eliza?" Dad says. "Lucy?" he says, almost as an afterthought.
"In the living room, dad." I say.

They come around the corner, dad looking smug and mom hiding something in her hand.
"Mom, whats that?!?" Eliza asks, from her excitement I can tell she already knows.
"Well, sweetheart," mom says slowly, smiling at her. "I know you've been wanting something for a while, and you've been so cooperative through all of this." I hide my face as it burns with guilt. "And you've been very responsible lately, and you do all your homework, so we decided that you were finally ready for a puppy." Mom leans down and puts the puppy down. Eliza jumps up and sprints over.
"Ohmygawd, mommy! You got me a puppy! Thank you mommy and daddy!"
She bends down, "whose the cutest puppy in the whole wide world, who? You! That's who!"

"Aww! Mommy, she licked my hand!" Eliza reaches down and carefully picks up the puppy, making sure it's comfortable. "Mommy?"

"Mommy?"

"Give mommy a minute, Eliza." Mom says. "Mommy has a call."

"What is it Ted? Yes, I can talk. Really?" Mom says, turning her back on Eliza.
"Mom?" Eliza says, tapping her back. "Mom?"
"Eliza! Shhh! Mommy is on the phone with Ted. Why don't you go show Lucy your new puppy."

"Look, Lucy," Eliza says, her bottom lip quivering.
"Bring that puppy over here." I say, smiling at her.  She comes over slowly and stands in front of me.

"What are you going to name her?" I ask.
"I don't know yet." She says. "Maybe after a flower. Hey, puppy!" She laughs as she untangles her from her hair.

"Lets go meet Pie!" Eliza cries, rubbing her nose against the puppies.

"Eliza," I say warningly, "maybe that's not the best idea. You should let her get used to us first."
"It's okay, Lucy, see, they're friends. Don't worry about it." She puts the puppy down and turns around to smile at me. I shut my mouth as the puppy wonders over to Pie and starts sniffing her. Pie hisses at the puppy, making the puppy fly backwards.

"Pie hurt her!" Eliza screams, reaching down and scooping the pup up. "Your cat hurt her."

"Pie didn't hurt her!" I say, in Pie's defense. "I told you not to let the puppy do that, and you didn't listen. Pie doesn't like dogs, and she doesn't like animals in her face. You should know that!"
"Take your cat upstairs." Eliza says, putting her hands on her hips.
"Fine." I scoop Pie up, petting her head as I do and take her up the stairs. "You stay here," I say, putting her down on my bed as I reach for my coat and hat. "I'll be back."
And I do what I do best.
Putting one foot in front of the other.

Chapter Two

Chapter Two
I grab a towel off of one of the sun chairs and push my way pass Eliza and into the house.
"Summer!" I cry, throwing my arms around her.

"Merry early Snowflake eve, Lucy!" she exclaims, pulling a present from behind her back. "I wanted to give you this. It's your Snowflake present. I know Snowflake is still like, a week away, but I'm going out of town to visit family, and won't be here to give it to you, so here!"

   "Aw, you didn't have to."
"I so had to! It's Snowflake day! Open it!" she cries, pointing at the present, "I want to see your reaction!"
"Oh, okay," I smile at her and start pulling on the bow. I get the box open, and squeal, "thank you thank you!" I cry, pulling the red sweater out of the box, "I love it."
"It's the right one, right? I'm almost a hundred percent sure that it is." she says.
"it is, again, thank you! Let me go get yours!" I run up the stairs before she can say anything else. I grab the small box off of my desk and fly down, out of breath as I hand it to her. "Here you go!"

"Aw, Lucy, you really didn't have to," she breaths, as she takes the lid off the box. "This is more than generous," she says, as she picks the snow globe out of the box.
I shrug, my cheeks warm, "you said you always wanted a snow globe from Isla Pardisla, since you didn't get one when you went."
"Thank you," she hugs me tightly, laughing, "it's perfect! It's going to look so awesome in my room!"
"What time do you leave?" I ask.
She looks up at the clock on the wall, "our flight is in three hours. I probably should go." As if on cue, a loud horn noise makes us both jump. "That would be my dad. He wants to get there early," she sighs loudly. "Wish I could I stay longer, but I really should go. I get back a day after Snowflake day, I think. So we definitely should plan to get together. Possible see that new Willie Kent movie?"
'Definitely, " I laugh, "yeah, bye," I say as she gives my hand a tight squeeze and a timid smile.
"Love you, Luc! I'll text you in a bit!" she yells, as she walks out the front door, waving.
"Love you too, Sum!" I yell after her, striding to shut the door behind her.
As soon as she's gone, I run up the stairs and jump into the shower, washing all the chlorine out of my hair.

I walk into the kitchen and lean against the counter, "hey."
"Oh, hi, Lucy," Sammi says. Sammi is our nanny/caretaker/cook/maid and the only thing keeping this house together. Without her, we would fall apart. "Would you mind going to get the mail?"

I nod eagerly and run out to the mail box. I shift through the junk mail and magazines, flipping through the letters. Nothing for me. Nothing from Him.

I shake off a sinking feeling in my stomach and walk back into the house, plopping the mail down on the dinning table.
   "Anything important?" Sammi asks.
"Nope," I say, shaking my head. Not in my opinion anyways. I feel a tickle around my feet and look down to see Pie rubbing her head against my ankle. "Hey, Pie," I whisper, leaning down to pick her up, "how's my kitty?" she purrs contently as I pull her against my chest.

"That cat really loves you," Eliza comments, not looking away from the computer screen.
"Yeah," I hold Pie out from my face and kiss her nose, "I love her too."
"I've got to run into the city," Sammi says, "but dinner is ready and in the fridge, so you can just warm it up when you get hungry. I'll be home before bed time, promise. Be good!"
"We will!" Eliza tells her as Sammi walks out.
I put Pie down gently, "whenever you get hungry, tell me." Eliza nods but doesn't turn around.
   "Okay," is all she says.

A little later, Eliza and I sit at the counter, eating dinner in silence.

"Where's mom and dad?" she asks, even though she already knows the answer.
"Most likely filming," I tell her. "You know around the holidays they film more, so they don't have to work on Snowflake day."
"Yeah, but still . . ." she stirs her pasta slowly, taking a small bite. "Your cat is eating pasta from the bowl."

"What?" I look up to see Pie on the kitchen counter. "Hey, Pie!" I snap, "get off the counter. What are you doing?" She looks up at me guiltily, licking the cheese off her whiskers as she jumps off.
I clear my bowl and put in the dishwasher before wiping the orange mustache off of Pie's face. "Eliza, when you're done I can-" I turn around and she's already on the phone, talking loud and fast about nail polish.

"Well then, come on Pie, let's go upstairs." I hold her tightly to stop her from squirming as I make my way up the stairs. I put her down on my bed, where she immediately stretches out and falls asleep.

I sit down at my computer and open up one of my documents, scrolling to a new page before I start to write. I never had much interest in writing before, now I wonder where I would be if I hadn't found it. It's almost therapeutic, to put down all my thoughts of the day. Everything I did. It's written there for me to see. It's all there for me to see.

A few hours later, I save and shut the lid to my computer. I yawn as I stand up and peek my head into Eliza's room. "Eliza?"

"Oh, hi." she puts her tablet down, "whatcha doing?"
"Just came to say good night."
   She nods, "good night."
"Good night," I step into her room and give her a quick hug. "Sleep tight."

  "You too."
I walk back into my room and slide underneath the covers, pulling the thick comforter up to my cheek and dreaming about brighter days.

You may notice that the some of the sims are slightly different, I apologize for that. I did change hairstyles because they're older, time has passed, but some eye colors may be slightly off. This is because I got a new computer, and haven't switched files over. Also, because this original file is on a laptop that doesn't really work, so I can't go get the file. I did the best I could, and I believe they are almost the same. Anyways, thanks for reading and feel free to comment!

Chapter One

This chapter never had pictures, so I'm going to leave it that way. Hope you enjoy this none the less!

Chapter One
I stepped onto the diving board, shivering slightly in my bathing suit. As I walked towards the end of the board, it gave away a little, and bends. It can bend all it wants, I know it won't break. I bend my knees slightly, the board bending the smallest bit more. As I push off, I straighten my legs a bit.
I hit the water with a splash. The water is startling. Freezing. I sink to the bottom of the pool, the cold water freezing, but at the same time peaceful. The one thing that helps me clear my head when I'm frazzled and my head is fuzzy, is water. Ice cold water seems to freeze the thoughts in my head so they stop jumping around.
I kick to the surface, and take in deep breaths of the warm air. The air is now warmer than before, compared to the icy water. I tread water to get warmth back in my legs. The sky is picture perfect blue, deceiving everyone. Of the cold air, and the snow scheduled to fall in feet.
"Lucy! Lucy!" Someone calls, I turn my head to the back door. And see my mom calling my name, her hair is done up and her face shiny. She just got home from working on her latest T.V. series that she's the star of. "Summer's here!"
A few weeks after we moved, I was walking around when I ran into a girl my age. She introduced herself and ended up walking with me. We've been friends ever since.
"kay, Mom. Tell her I'll be in in a minute." I paddle to the edge and pull myself up. The air is now colder, the wind bitting into my skin. I hobble over to the loungers and grab a towel. Wrapping it around my waist, I dry my feet off on the mat in front of the door.
"Lucy!" An impatient voice calls, Eliza's voice. Eliza in three months has changed more than me. She comes to stand in front of the door, hands on her hips, blocking my way. "Don't you dare come in the house soaking wet like that." She raises her eyebrows at me and shakes her head. "Eliza," I say warningly. "Remember you're only ten." "I'll be ten and a half in four months." Eliza comments. I sigh, the joy of having a ten and two month year old sister.

The Begining

This is a continuation to another story I wrote, A Summer In Sunset Valley. Link here; click here to be taken to story. You don't have to read it to understand what's going on, but you might want to, as you may understand some points in this story better if you do. I started this story last year, but my real life got busy and it got complicated and I wasn't able to actually write for this story, or any of my stories for that matter. It can be hard for me to actually finish stories, since I start to over think things and they end up way longer than I can ever complete. But I hope you enjoy this seasonal tale! The first three post were originally written on Carl and Pam's Sims 3 Forum, which is an amazing forum. If you play and love Sims, you should definitely consider joining!
______________________________________________________________________
It's been three months. Three months since the crash. Since then, all my wounds that are visible have disappeared. But I still feel . .  Off. I am not myself anymore, I've changed. Cars are still scary, I just take the subway every where. So much has changed in three months. I was whisked home in a flurry, and we moved a week later. Our apartment no longer felt like home, plus the fact that people came night and day, trying to find more information on the mystery of the crash that no one seemed able to connect with me not being here in the city, not yet anyways. I'm also home schooled now, since I didn't want go back. It didn't interest me anymore, plus I didn't want people continually asking me if I was okay.
Eliza is ten, and has been swept into the 'popular' group, now wearing makeup and asking for all the new clothes she can possibly get.
As for me, I stay away from it all. I have one friend who I can visit. Truthfully, I am okay with that.
You can tell that winter is coming, every morning is colder. The air is sharper. Snow is on it's way. Let it snow.
