Chapter Two

Chapter Two
I grab a towel off of one of the sun chairs and push my way pass Eliza and into the house.
"Summer!" I cry, throwing my arms around her.

"Merry early Snowflake eve, Lucy!" she exclaims, pulling a present from behind her back. "I wanted to give you this. It's your Snowflake present. I know Snowflake is still like, a week away, but I'm going out of town to visit family, and won't be here to give it to you, so here!"

   "Aw, you didn't have to."
"I so had to! It's Snowflake day! Open it!" she cries, pointing at the present, "I want to see your reaction!"
"Oh, okay," I smile at her and start pulling on the bow. I get the box open, and squeal, "thank you thank you!" I cry, pulling the red sweater out of the box, "I love it."
"It's the right one, right? I'm almost a hundred percent sure that it is." she says.
"it is, again, thank you! Let me go get yours!" I run up the stairs before she can say anything else. I grab the small box off of my desk and fly down, out of breath as I hand it to her. "Here you go!"

"Aw, Lucy, you really didn't have to," she breaths, as she takes the lid off the box. "This is more than generous," she says, as she picks the snow globe out of the box.
I shrug, my cheeks warm, "you said you always wanted a snow globe from Isla Pardisla, since you didn't get one when you went."
"Thank you," she hugs me tightly, laughing, "it's perfect! It's going to look so awesome in my room!"
"What time do you leave?" I ask.
She looks up at the clock on the wall, "our flight is in three hours. I probably should go." As if on cue, a loud horn noise makes us both jump. "That would be my dad. He wants to get there early," she sighs loudly. "Wish I could I stay longer, but I really should go. I get back a day after Snowflake day, I think. So we definitely should plan to get together. Possible see that new Willie Kent movie?"
'Definitely, " I laugh, "yeah, bye," I say as she gives my hand a tight squeeze and a timid smile.
"Love you, Luc! I'll text you in a bit!" she yells, as she walks out the front door, waving.
"Love you too, Sum!" I yell after her, striding to shut the door behind her.
As soon as she's gone, I run up the stairs and jump into the shower, washing all the chlorine out of my hair.

I walk into the kitchen and lean against the counter, "hey."
"Oh, hi, Lucy," Sammi says. Sammi is our nanny/caretaker/cook/maid and the only thing keeping this house together. Without her, we would fall apart. "Would you mind going to get the mail?"

I nod eagerly and run out to the mail box. I shift through the junk mail and magazines, flipping through the letters. Nothing for me. Nothing from Him.

I shake off a sinking feeling in my stomach and walk back into the house, plopping the mail down on the dinning table.
   "Anything important?" Sammi asks.
"Nope," I say, shaking my head. Not in my opinion anyways. I feel a tickle around my feet and look down to see Pie rubbing her head against my ankle. "Hey, Pie," I whisper, leaning down to pick her up, "how's my kitty?" she purrs contently as I pull her against my chest.

"That cat really loves you," Eliza comments, not looking away from the computer screen.
"Yeah," I hold Pie out from my face and kiss her nose, "I love her too."
"I've got to run into the city," Sammi says, "but dinner is ready and in the fridge, so you can just warm it up when you get hungry. I'll be home before bed time, promise. Be good!"
"We will!" Eliza tells her as Sammi walks out.
I put Pie down gently, "whenever you get hungry, tell me." Eliza nods but doesn't turn around.
   "Okay," is all she says.

A little later, Eliza and I sit at the counter, eating dinner in silence.

"Where's mom and dad?" she asks, even though she already knows the answer.
"Most likely filming," I tell her. "You know around the holidays they film more, so they don't have to work on Snowflake day."
"Yeah, but still . . ." she stirs her pasta slowly, taking a small bite. "Your cat is eating pasta from the bowl."

"What?" I look up to see Pie on the kitchen counter. "Hey, Pie!" I snap, "get off the counter. What are you doing?" She looks up at me guiltily, licking the cheese off her whiskers as she jumps off.
I clear my bowl and put in the dishwasher before wiping the orange mustache off of Pie's face. "Eliza, when you're done I can-" I turn around and she's already on the phone, talking loud and fast about nail polish.

"Well then, come on Pie, let's go upstairs." I hold her tightly to stop her from squirming as I make my way up the stairs. I put her down on my bed, where she immediately stretches out and falls asleep.

I sit down at my computer and open up one of my documents, scrolling to a new page before I start to write. I never had much interest in writing before, now I wonder where I would be if I hadn't found it. It's almost therapeutic, to put down all my thoughts of the day. Everything I did. It's written there for me to see. It's all there for me to see.

A few hours later, I save and shut the lid to my computer. I yawn as I stand up and peek my head into Eliza's room. "Eliza?"

"Oh, hi." she puts her tablet down, "whatcha doing?"
"Just came to say good night."
   She nods, "good night."
"Good night," I step into her room and give her a quick hug. "Sleep tight."

  "You too."
I walk back into my room and slide underneath the covers, pulling the thick comforter up to my cheek and dreaming about brighter days.

You may notice that the some of the sims are slightly different, I apologize for that. I did change hairstyles because they're older, time has passed, but some eye colors may be slightly off. This is because I got a new computer, and haven't switched files over. Also, because this original file is on a laptop that doesn't really work, so I can't go get the file. I did the best I could, and I believe they are almost the same. Anyways, thanks for reading and feel free to comment!
